Justices
Current Supreme Court Justices:
1. Antonin Scalia 6. John G. Roberts
2. Anthony M. Kennedy 7. Samuel A. Alito, Jr.
3. Clarence Thomas 8. Sonia Sotomayor
4. Ruth Bader Ginsburg 9. Elena Kagan
5. Stephen G. Breyer
Antonin Scalia
-As the longest serving member of the Supreme court, naturally he has the most old school opinions. He is known as the most conservative judge and was appointed by Ronald Reagan. He has clearly stated that he opposes any extra help to minorities and believes everyone is the master of their own destiny and the best person for the job should recieve it. He is known for making outlandish statements and being the leading voice of the conservative party. He will definately vote to overturn affirmative action in schools.
Sonia Sotomayor
-Sotomayor was recently appointed by President Barrack Obama, she is the first Hispanic justice and third female justice. This gives her a sort of bias view on affirmative action because as a minority and a woman, these policies benefit her, and her community. She was raised in the Bronx among the poor and ignorant, so she knows what its like to have little opportunity. She has solidly voted with the Democratic bloc and will almost definitely uphold affirmative action.
